What is the difference of an APS MCC to an normal MCC?
What type of MCC should i choose?
Price differences between MCC and APS MCC
What is the focus?
Here is the breakdown of how they compare.
1. MCC (Multi-Crew Cooperation)
The standard MCC is the legal minimum requirement to apply for your first multi-pilot Type Rating. Thus no more training or money should be spent, if you aim to fly i.e. an Airbus A320 in your career. As the Type rating is the higher qualification.
The MCC course time will be fully credited towards the type rating and at JETLINE TRAINING it can also be INTEGRATED as iMCC into your A320 type rating. Saving you thousands of Euro, especially in travel cost as you come for MCC and A320 type rating in a combined course.
The MCC focuses on the basics of working as a team where as the JOC we offer on the A320 shows you the characteristics of a modern Jet aircraft allowing seamless transition to the type rating course and Airline operations.
-
Objective: To transition a pilot from "single-pilot thinking" to "multi-crew cooperation."
-
Focus: Communication, leadership, and task sharing (Pilot Flying vs. Pilot Monitoring).
-
Duration: 20 hours of simulator time and 10 hours for the Integrated MCC.
-
Plus at JETLINE TRAINING integration of advanced swept-wing aerodynamics, complex systems, and Airline Orientation Training (AOT).
-
Equipment: We use A320 FTD-2 or A320 certified FNPT II simulators
-
It’s a foundational course. It teaches you how not to crash while talking to someone else, but it doesn't necessarily prepare you for the rigors of a Boeing or Airbus assessment.
-
So while saving money you fulfill all the pre-requisited for your airline career and type rating.
2. APS MCC (Airline Pilot Standard MCC)
Introduced by EASA around 2018, the APS MCC is an "enhanced" version.
-
Objective: Designed to prepare pilots for specific airline sim assessments at major airlines. Often those courses are conducted by the same airline making the requirement: i.e. some Irish Low cost carriers. Thus making more money out of the additional training.
-
Focus: Everything in the MCC, plus advanced swept-wing aerodynamics, complex systems, and Airline Orientation Training (AOT).
-
Duration: Usually 40 hours of simulator time (double the standard MCC).
-
DISADVANTAGE: The additional 20 hours you spend in time and money DO NOT count as per EASA FCL regulations towards your type rating and are NOT credited.
